Songkran is actually the Thai New Year  (Chinese: 潑 水節). Songkran is celebrated every year from April 13 to April 15. It coincides with the New Year of many calendars of South and Southeast Asia.

Traditionally, the most obvious celebration of Songkran is the throwing of water. People roam the streets with containers of water or water guns, or post themselves at the side of roads with a garden hose and drench each other and passers-by. This, however, was not always the main activity of this festival. Songkran was traditionally a time to visit and pay respects to elders, including family members, friends and neighbours.

The Club celebrated Songkran with much pomp and grandeur. There were many traditional Thai performances coupled with a fantastic spread of Thai delicacies. The food was sold out.

The water guns were also sold out. All the members and their family members and guests had a gala time drenching each other and jumping into the pool.

Royal Lake Club (RLC) v Royal Sungei Ujong Club (RSUC) Friendly Tri-Games 25th of April, 2009 (Saturday)

The RSUC Darts team

We, RSUC played host to a friendly game with RLC which was held on 25th April, 2009. Three games were played Squash, Tennis and Darts (we may call this a Triangle Games). Light refreshment was also served for the visitor’s team at the sunken bar where both teams mingle before slogging it out in the courts and dart room. RSUC quite mercilessly pulverised RLC  in all the games. It was a fun friendly and fun games culminating in a celebratory dinner held at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hall. Both teams and their supporters celebrated the night together with a two-piece band to liven things up with some music. An introduction speech was given by our manager, Mr. Geoffery Anthony, follow by a welcoming speech by our Sports Chairman, Mr. Steven Loo. Dato’ Seri Dr. Salleh, the Deputy Chairman of Racquet Games, Table Tennis and Gym  of RLC also gave a short speech.  Our President Mr. Bernard Kanny presented a plaque to Dato’ Seri Dr. Salleh. All in all the games went on smoothly and it's been a really good event.
